Split a Separated List into Rows

Cell to Rows turns pasted comma, semicolon, tab or line-break separated text into a vertical list. Quoted values can contain separators, and doubled quote marks become a single quote mark. Choose whether to trim surrounding spaces, omit empty values and remove exact duplicates. The result can be copied or downloaded as plain rows, a one-column CSV file or a JSON array. Plain rows are best for pasting into a spreadsheet column; JSON or CSV preserves values that contain line breaks.

How to use Cell to Rows

  1. Paste values from a cell or text list, then choose the separator used between values. Comma, semicolon and tab modes also split at line breaks outside quotes.
  2. Review the parsed row count and any quote error. Adjust trimming, empty-value and duplicate options until the preview matches your intended list.
  3. Choose plain rows, CSV column or JSON array, then copy the result or download it. Review cells beginning with =, +, - or @ before opening exported CSV in spreadsheet software.
