Calculate and Check a Parity Bit
Parity Trace appends one check bit to 1–32 binary data bits. Choose even parity for an even total number of ones or odd parity for an odd total. You can copy the transmitted word, enter a received word of the same length or flip individual bits to inspect the result. A passing parity check cannot rule out an even number of changed bits.
How to use Parity Trace
- Enter 1–32 zeros and ones as data bits; spaces are ignored. Choose even or odd parity.
- Select Add check bit to see and copy the full transmitted word, with its check bit at the right.
- Enter a same-length received word or flip bit buttons to test the parity check. Compare the received word with the original to see changes parity misses.
