Trace a Pitch Class Cycle by Semitone Interval
Tone Cycle Atlas repeats a chosen interval of 1 to 11 semitones from a starting note and stops when it returns to the start. The diagram and ordered list show pitch classes, so octave and register are intentionally ignored. A four-semitone step makes a major-third cycle; spelling is a display choice, and a flat or sharp name can refer to the same sounding pitch class in equal temperament.
How to use Tone Cycle Atlas
- Choose a starting note, enter a whole-number step from 1 to 11 semitones, and select flat or sharp names.
- Select Draw cycle to see each distinct stop and the final return to the starting note.
- Read the ordered sequence beside the diagram, then download the text practice list or reset the controls.
